In addition, a daily malware scan helps reduce the risk of becoming blacklisted by search engines. No matter how much search optimization and advertising, if a site is blacklisted, it will not be displayed in search results and viewing may be blocked by some browsers.

Malware is a general term for malicious software and is a growing problem on the Internet. Hackers install malware without your consent by exploiting security weaknesses on your server and gaining access to your web site code. The malware code is not visible or easily detected, and may infect customers' computers when they simply browse your web site. Hackers use it to spread viruses, hijack your computer or steal sensitive data such as credit card numbers or other personal information.

The domain name which will be associated with Symantec Safe Site must be legally registered and Symantec must be able to verify that the Trust Seal applicant either owns the domain name or has exclusive rights to use it.

Once you’ve purchased Symantec Safe Site, you must complete the application process in the account management page and submit it for approval. And, if this domain uses ID Protect, it must be disabled until Symantec has verified the domain ownership.

1. Log into the My Account area of our website.
2. If the domain has ID Protection, click “My Domains”. Navigate to the domain, then Manage > Addons. Next, click the "disable" link.

Symantec will first verify the information you provide including domain name ownership, contact information and malware scan. You’ll receive an email confirming the activation of your Trust Seal once validation is completed.

It takes up to 5 days for Symantec to verify identity and approve the Trust Seal. Once approved, you will embed a Symantec Safe Site script in your website's code. The script will display in the My Account area, on your Symantec Safe Site product details page.

Log in. In the “My Services” section, click “Symantec Safe Site”. A link for the code should appear on the product details page. Copy the script in the “Embed” text box and paste it into your web page code.

If you disabled ID Protection, you can enable it now. Navigate to the domain, then Manage > Addons. Next, click the "enable" link.

If your application is rejected, you will be notified and we will issue a refund for your purchase price.

If Symantec detects malware during their daily scan, it deactivates the Trust Seal on the web site and notifies the web site owner by email that it has done so. The notification includes details about the type of malware and the infected pages, and provides a link to detailed information. This notification system allows the owner to take rapid corrective actions and submit a request for a scan to reactivate Symantec Safe Site.
